Patricia Newquist
Planner, Project Manager McIntosh & Associates
Secretary/Treasurer, Word for Word Ministries, Inc.
My parents immigrated to Southern California from Germany a few years before I joined them in Whittier, CA. My father was a Master Goldsmith who spent many years in Downtown LA handcrafting beautiful custom designed jewelry for celebrities. We moved to California Hot Springs, a tiny mountain community about an hour northeast of Bakersfield where I traded my love for ice staking for horses and motorcycles, and most importantly found Jesus through a youth bible study. I attended Porterville Union HS and was a proud Orange Blossom with the famous Panther Marching Band. As the business expanded and moved to Visalia, so did I, and while working part time, I attended College of the Sequoias and earned my A.S. in Business and later matriculated to Fresno State and UCLA.
In 1991 I began working with McIntosh & Associates, a Civil Engineering and Land Surveying firm here in Bakersfield and my role as Planner – Project Manager has been very rewarding. I have had the opportunity to work on many projects including Master Planned Communities and exciting development projects such as the new Amazon, Outlets at Tejon, Shops at River Walk and others.
During the last couple decades I’ve enjoyed serving on the Board with AYSO, mentoring at Garden Pathways, volunteering and eventually chairing the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Bakersfield program. Most recently I am enjoying my current involvement with Kern Leadership Alliance.
My greatest joy is working with my husband David in Word for Word Ministries, Inc., and the production of the Bible Song, a singable version of the New Testament.
Her KLA "why": My personal goals and values strongly align with the goals and values of KLA and my vision for our community resonates with the KLA theme of "CONNECT - PRAY - SERVE"
Favorite thing about Kern County: Besides the wonderful and friendly people, I love the central location and accessibility to the mountains, coast, and culture of Southern California.
Passion for Kern Leadership Alliance: KLA provides followers of Christ an opportunity to Connect as well as to Pray and Serve together. My personal passion lies in prayer and intercession for our city, its leaders and the community. I also love the fact that KLA honors servant leaders within our community at the annual Servant Leadership Awards Breakfast. It is a delight to honor those deserving people who selflessly live to serve others.
