 Connie Wattenbarger

Community Volunteer & Owner, Design Co.

Connie is an Alumni of the Univ of Oklahoma with a BS in speech pathology (My home state where I was born and raised). Moved to California to teach and met my husband of 47 years. We have 4 children, 11 "grands" and 9 "greats". My husband is retired from home construction and development and I continue to enjoy my interior design business. I have been fortunate to serve on many community boards, namely the Kern High School District Board of Trustees for 12 years. Currently I serve on the board of directors for Garden Pathways, KLA and Kern County Student Leadership. I love working with our high school youth and mentoring future leaders. I enjoy politics, traveling, event planning, volunteering for non-profit organizations and being with family.

Her KLA "why": Working on the Franklin Graham Festival was my first experience with what has now evolved into Kern Leadership Alliance. I am passionate about reaching others for Jesus through serving. KLA has been a great way to be with other Christians in an effort to mobilize our community to be the feet and hands of Jesus. Our vision of connect, pray and serve checks all the boxes for me. I want to be active in not just "come and see" but rather" go and serve". I have developed such deep and wonderful friendships through my association with KLA and enjoy the opportunities and challenges they promote. There are no political or denominational barriers and KLA has afforded me many avenues of service. I am proud to serve on it's board of directors.

Favorite thing about Kern County: The people! It's a small town with big influence. It's a giving community that isn't afraid to serve others with their time, talents and treasure.

Passion for Kern Leadership Alliance: My passion lies in serving, mentoring and developing leaders to share the good news. KLA has great potential in it's ability to draw believers together in unity to transform our community for the greater good.
