For the past five years, Stop the Violence has identified and mentored young people who have overcome great adversity, demonstrated academic excellence, and given back to their communities. Stop the Violence is a faith-based non-profit program designed to reach out to youth in the community, effect positive change, and instill hope for a brighter future. Stop the Violence’s Board of concerned community members, seeking to end violence in our county, guides the program.
On May 19, 2011, Stop the Violence will host their 2nd Annual fundraiser banquet, where they will honor high school students who have participated in the program, succeeded and are pursuing college despite the overwhelming challenges they have faced. You are invited to enjoy a wonderful dinner and hear from one of the most inspiring women in Kern County, Mrs. Shannon Grove, 32nd District Assembly Woman. This is also an excellent opportunity to find out more about the Stop the Violence organization and the difference it has made in Bakersfield.
You can help send a clear message to today’s youth, that we care and we understand what it takes to succeed, by attending and supporting this genuinely moving event. Please support this event, and the young people being honored, by completing the attached flyer to reserve your spot. Join Stop the Violence and be a part of the solution to the problems caused by gangs, drugs and crime.
All proceeds will benefit the Stop the Violence program and scholarships. Tickets can be purchased for a table of ten (10) for the price of $500 or Individual tickets for $55. For more information, please contact Sean Battle at (661) 427-3993 or via e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
