KLA begins the New Year with Prayer

KLA Prayer One: March 4, 2008 – As the new year began, we felt that prayer needed to become a more central focus of Kern Leadership Alliance. To answer the call, Kern Leadership Alliance has created the KLA Prayer Committee. This committee has helped jump start a monthly prayer meeting. The KLA prayer session is held on the second Tuesday of every month at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in downtown Bakersfield from 7:00 to 7:45 a.m. All Kern Leadership Alliance supporters are welcome to come a join us.

God’s timing is humbling and we believe He has been using our prayer time. On Thursday, January 31, we announced that we would be praying for the men and women in both City and County law enforcement that deal with gangs. Little did we know that on the following weekend, a Bakersfield police officer would be shot and critically injured. We lifted up Office Eddy, along with the other officers serving on our streets, at our Febraury prayer meeting. Following that meeting, we were given an opportunity to handwrite prayers which were attached to a Kern Leadership Alliance letter to the officers.

KLA Prayer Group: Our Assistant Chief of Police for the Bakersfield Police Department has informed us that this letter, along with the handwritten prayers, was disbursed department wide. The letter reached out to many officers who were troubled by the recent events and needed encouragement. We truly serve an awesome God.

We will once again be lifting up those issues pressing on our community at our upcoming meeting. If you are able, please unite with us again in prayer as we call on our Creator to touch hearts and empower His people to be His hands and feet.
